Resources

The Developing an Information Management Strategy course explores a number of useful tools and concepts. Below are a few of these which you may find useful.

Rich Picture Analysis

As the name suggests rich pictures are a pictorial representation of a problem domain. They are a ‘visual communication tool’ used in various fields, including systems thinking, business analysis, and problem-solving. They are a very powerful and useful analysis tool which can help simplify complexity.

They have multiple uses from illustrating a current state analysis through to facilitating discussions, and making sense of complex situations.

Service Posters

Service posters articulate in plain non-technical language the services (or products your team provides). They help address the ‘discipline disconnect’ where different teams, disciplines, or areas of expertise have difficulty communicating or collaborating effectively due to differences in terminology, methods, goals, or perspectives.

Brag Boards

Brag boards communicate a team’s achievements in solving problems or creating opportunities for stakeholders. They normally take the form of a poster which clearly states the problem or opportunity, the solution and most importantly comments from happy stakeholders.

Brag boards can help communicate service offerings and capabilities – that is the value add a team can provide. They can help lift the profile of a team and are a great motivator for show casing successes.
